Our "Believable, One Low Price" Philosophy:

Let's face it - nobody likes getting hassled when it's time to buy a vehicle.  Wouldn't it be great if a car dealership would just give you their Best Price Upfront without having to haggle for hours and days? We post our sale price on every new and used vehicle every day because we wanted everything to be honest and upfront, for we have nothing to hide!  We call it the "No-Dicker Sticker."  No games, no gimmicks, no stress!

Why our customers like our "One Price" approach to buying a car:

Imagine walking into a department store and asking a salesperson how much an item is going to cost – and not being able to get a straightforward answer! Suppose they answered back with a question like; “How much do you want to spend on it?” or some other evasive comment. That way of doing business has always astounded me.

I can walk into any home improvement store, pick out a dishwasher, and ask the salesperson what that dishwasher is going to cost. They'll say $349 dollars, or some similar price, and point to the price clearly marked on the dishwasher. I can do that at most all retail stores. What really sets off a lot of alarm bells and red flags for me is when a salesperson has to check with their manager for a price, or the price depends on whether I'm going to trade something in or not and if I'm going to finance the purchase or pay cash. Well, it just can’t be to my advantage if that's the way the system is going to work.

We've taken customer surveys and just talked very frankly with our customers over the years; we've been in business for a long time, nearly 50 years. Everyone we spoke with overwhelmingly said that they didn't like to negotiate the price of a vehicle and they wanted the experience to be more like when they go into a department store to buy shoes or a shirt. Negotiating on a price was the one thing that consistently made people uncomfortable when they were purchasing a vehicle.

We eliminated price negotiation from our sales process:


We decided to make buying a car at Bowen Scarff Ford the most forthright buying experience possible. You don't have to spend hours talking with twenty different people to find out what a vehicle is going to cost. That's the basic difference between our philosophy and the typical dealership sales approach.

We felt it was better to give all customers our best price up front, and we eliminated the negotiation process, as a result changing the way we do a lot of things.

For example, we had to change the way we pay our salespeople. At a traditional dealership, you're going to talk with a salesperson that gets paid a percentage of the "profit" they can make on each vehicle. They're motivated to sell you a car for as much money they can trick or bully you into paying. Clearly, in that situation, you're not dealing with someone who has your best interest at heart.

Our salespeople are paid a base rate per vehicle unlike other dealerships. They make the same amount of money per vehicle whether you were buying a $5,000 car or a $50,000 car. They don’t earn more money by quoting you a higher price on a car, or persuading you to buy a more expensive car because it doesn’t help them in any way. Their only interest is in helping you find the vehicle that best suits your needs and your pocketbook. They focus on making sure you are completely satisfied.

No Second Stickers, Ever:


You never have to worry about an overly inflated "second sticker" price on our vehicles. Car dealers who post second stickers want you to think you are getting a great deal when you negotiate and haggle on their "second sticker" price. But, what you may not know is that they mark their vehicles hundreds, even thousands, of dollars above the MSRP to trick you into thinking you are getting a great deal when in reality you just aren't. You'll find our discount price, our "No-Dicker" price, clearly posted in the window of each and every new or used car we sell. Our customers don’t have to wait for a "sale" to get the best price available on a new or used vehicle. We essentially have a sale every day when you compare our discount prices to the competitors. We always establish right up front, the best discount that we are willing to sell a vehicle for and still pay our bills. Our "No-Dicker" price will always be well below MSRP or Retail Value on most all of our vehicles.

Our "One Price" approach removes any chance that an inexperienced or less aggressive car buyer might be taken advantage of by a salesperson who just wants to get the most commission possible. I suppose there are some people who want to come in and haggle out a price. They're generally not happy unless they can haggle out some concessions from the dealer so they are paying a price lower than any of our other customer can get. We don't, and won't, do business that way. It’s just not fair to the vast majority of our patrons who appreciate our "One Price" way of doing business.
